Basic Info BioName (of character): Isobel Moon
House: Hufflepuff
Year: 7
Appearance: A thin, black-haired girl with dark eyes and a curvy smile. She stands at the medium height range for a young woman her age.
Personality: Isobel has a lot of dark thoughts that creep to the surface every once in a while, but mostly keeps in. She's not quite anti-social, but it's safe to say that there are more things she doesn't like than things she does. She loves Hufflepuff, since she was so desperate for a real family and Hufflepuff gave her that. She's a smart witch, but has to work very hard for her grades. In the end, though she may seem tough or cold, she has a very low self-esteem and a needy personality.
History: Her mother came from Edinburgh and her father is from Dublin, where she lives. Despite being surrounded by Muggles, this pureblood family lived a pretty comfortable life. The father, a young financial genius and Ravenclaw alumni, had worked in the Irish branch of the Nimbus Racing Broom Company as Head of marketing, which brought them quite a bit of cash to live on.
In what was seen as one of the last few Death Eater attacks before peace finally came, the family was attacked in their home by assailants assumed to be Death Eaters. The mother, father, grandparents, two aunts and an uncle (who also worked with the Nimbus Company) were killed in the attack, leaving two-year-old Isobel and her then ten-year-old brother Cian as the only survivors. Nobody was ever formally charged and convicted of the crime, though with the rest of the Wizarding World, the assumption that Death Eaters did it led them to believe that justice had been served.
Cain and Isobel went on to live with a great-aunt and uncle living in Dublin with their four children. Cain graduated from Hogwarts (Ravenclaw alumni) and went to work in the Nimbus company like his dad. He shared his father's aptitude for finance, and is doing well. Isobel, not so much.
Where Cain buried himself into his studies and spent months away from school, Isobel spent a lot of time with herself, hating her stupid bratty family and being bitter with being left alone. By the time she entered school, she was a very angry little girl. Needless to say, being Sorted into Hufflepuff was a huge surprise.
However, it turned out to be a good thing. Community-centered Hufflepuff coaxed the angry girl out of her shell, and she learned to make a few friends here and there.
Year 1: Things get hectic as Trolls invade the dungeons and 1st years start playing House Quidditch. Professor Quirrel disappears, and he was a Professor she liked a lot.
Year 2: The Chamber of Secrets is opened, and everyone looks to Potter, Slytherins and purebloods in genereal as the heir. Gilderoy Lockhart comes to school, a real life hero, but he left as well, his mind in shambles.
Year 3: Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban! Could he have had something to do with her family? He was a Death Eater, wasn't he? Professor Lupin comes to teach, and Isobel likes his style as well. Between him and Snape, they learn quite a bit on dark creatures. But there he goes.
Year 4: Cedric Diggory is chosen as Hogwarts Champion. There is great pride, but then Harry Potter is chosen as well. Alastor Moody introduces Isobel back to the Dark Arts that she was curious with at home. Justin Finch-Fletchley approaches Isobel and they begin dating. Not only does Moody leave with no explination. (He was last seen with Potter and a lot of Professors, it's said), but Diggory dies. Potter and Dumbledore say You-Know-Who is returned. Frightened by the concept of his Muggle family, Isobel breaks up with Justin.
Year 5: Umbridge comes to teach and Dumbledore leaves for a while. Everything is upside-down. Since Defence was rubbish, Isobel spends more time in the library. She gets her hand on an article from the Quibbler that suggested that Death Eaters had nothing to do with her family woes. There was large talk of her father having problems with Goblins, something concerning some of the finances of the company. Goblins. And the Ministry covered it up. Dark thoughts began to swirl in her head. Potter had started a secret defense club and nearly got expelled for it. Umbridge disappeared, good riddance. Everyone finds out that You-Know-Who was back.
Year 6: A Slytherin girl died during the Halloween ball, a Muggle art teacher dies and the castle is directly attacked. You-Know-Who is not only back, but he's started the second war in full swing. Ireland is attacked, and though it's still far from Dublin, Isobel can feel a creeping darkness edging closer all around her.
